Dangers while diving
During a diving trip, a customer ascended too quickly. This can sometimes have life-threatening consequences. Unfortunately, that was the case here as well. He was taken to a local hospital with minor symptoms and received initial treatment.
However, the patient’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and a life-threatening situation arose. Since the patient was in immediate danger of death and no hyperbaric chambers were available in South America, repatriation had to be arranged under enormous time pressure.
This was achieved in less than a week, despite the most adverse circumstances. Thanks to the seamless cooperation between the assistance provider, the reinsurer, and our doctors, correspondents, and air ambulance, this monumental task was successfully organized and carried out.
